Opening our doors

The Lodge of Harmony and the town's other Masonic groups meet in the Old Grammar School, a historic building that dates back to 1576, when it was built with the consent of Queen Elizabeth I.

This fascinating building is cared for by a Charitable Trust which is inviting visitors to look around the former school on a number of Saturdays this summer. The next open afternoons, which begin at 2.30 and include an explanation of the building's history, are planned for 26 July and 23 August.

There is a small charge of £5 for adults, with accompanied children free. Refreshments will be available.
