Members of the Lodge of Harmony will be throwing open the doors of one of Faversham’s most historic buildings and welcoming in the public at an informal open evening next month.
The Lodge of Harmony, one of three Craft Lodges in the town, meets at Freemason’s Hall, built as the Faversham Free Grammar School at a cost of just £30 towards the end of the 16th century.
A beautiful, historic, timber-framed building, it still has the names of former scholars carved into the backs of seats in the first floor former schoolroom.
Members of the public will be able to see inside this stunning building and learn a little about both the building and Freeemasonry, at an open evening being held on Wednesday 14 June from 6.30 to 8.30pm.
The Lodge of Harmony number 133 is the oldest of the Faversham Lodges, having been registered with the organisation’s governing body in 1764.
As well as being able to look around the building, which is in Abbey Place, Faversham ME13 7BJ, visitors will be able to enjoy complimentary light refreshments. The evening is free of charge and there is no need to book.
